Oh, the all sufficient, all powerful blood of the Lamb of God. The blood of Jesus was able to do what the blood of animal sacrifices could never do, and that is remove the guilt of sin from men’s conscience. The blood of Jesus didn’t just cover our sins as the blood of animals had done in the old covenant. But it actually removed them!
“He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us.)” (Hebrews 9:12 amplified Bible)
The purpose is to purify us for service. “For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrew 9:13-14)
The conscience of an unredeemed sinner would not permit him to serve God. Satan would continually buffet and torment the poor soul, and rightly so. The weight of guilt would render him useless. But God in His infinite wisdom provided redemption from the foundation of the world for His beloved creation, human kind.
To make the conscience clean would allow the sinner to be separated from his former life and become a New Creation in Christ Jesus. To remove the stain of sin through the washing in the blood would provide the means to an end. And that end would be in service to the Eternal Father.
He is worthy to be praised. He is worthy to be worshiped, and one of our acts of worship is in service to God, and to our fellow man. I believe one of the best ways to help grow the Body of Christ is to put its members into service. Serving one another in the love of the Lord is true fellowship among the brethren. Isn’t that the command of our Lord Jesus? “To love one another as I have loved you.”
I personally don’t believe you can truly and powerfully love, until Christ is at the center of your life. I thought I knew what love was before I knew Jesus, but that was such a simplistic and minimal view of love, I can honestly say I did not really know what to love someone really was. Since I have been washed in the blood I am able to love everyone. I am able to serve in pure conscience, and that’s empowering! Jesus was able to secure a complete redemption for me. An everlasting release. Thank God for the Blood!
